November 16th Thursday

The Rice Lake Warrior football team is playing for the state title on Friday and tickets are available at the RLHS student services area Wednesday and Thursday day from 7am-8am. There is also a fan bus going down. Cost, which includes a game ticket, is $20 for students and $25 for adults. Payment and permission slip (for students) are due Thursday.

The send off pep rally is at Ole Olsen Gym Thursday morning at 7:45am and is open to the public.

The welcome home pep rally is Friday evening at approximately 6pm at Ole Olsen Gym.

Through November

The American Red Cross encourages people to share their good health this holiday season by donating blood for patients in need. A decline in donations occurs from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day when donors are busy with holiday activities and travel. However, patients don’t get a holiday break from needing lifesaving transfusions. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Make an appointment to give blood by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Through November

WESTconsin Credit Union is collecting new mittens, gloves, hats and scarves that will be distributed locally to families in need with their Mitten Tree. Donated items can be handmade or store purchased. You can also donate by purchasing a paper ornament. More details at any WESTconsin Credit Union location.

Through November

An iconic image of the holidays season is the red kettles, the fundraising effort for the Salvation Army.  Groups and individuals are encouraged to sign up to be bell ringers. Bell ringing shifts will be available Monday through Saturday, most sites 9 to 7, November 16th through December 30th. To sign up, call 715-234-2799, or go online to

November 13th-17th Monday-Friday

Lakeview Medical Center presents their 14th annual Hang On Thru the Holidays. Register this week at Wellness Center at Mall between 6:30am-4:45pm or onsite Tuesday from 9am-12:30pm or Thursday from 7am-9am. Weigh-ins are once a week through January 8th. At the end of the eight week period is the weight-out, comparing your initial weight to the end result. Prizes awarded at the end with entries determined by how much weight you lost. November 16th Thursday

The Rice Lake Chamber of Commerce presents the 13th Annual Hunters Feed on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Enjoy Food, Raffles and hunting stories! If you can’t make it to the annual cookout you can still show your support by making a donation at Dairy State Bank or the Rice Lake Chamber Office. You can also purchase your raffle tickets early. Three guns and other great prizes will be available. Need not be present to win.

November 16th Thursday

The RLPL will present a Drive-In Movie program on Thursday from 5:00-6:30pp. Create and decorate your own car from boxes we'll provide.  We'll take our cars to our indoor drive-in theater to watch and movie and enjoy hotdogs, popcorn and drinks while we watch a movie in the comfort of our own cars.

November 21st Tuesday

The Grassroots Empowerment Project presents a community conversation about the challenges that exist in Barron County and how individuals returning to the community from jail, homelessness and chemical dependency treatment could be supported by their peers.
You can join the conversation on Tuesday from 5:00pm-7:30pm at the Barron County Government Center in the 1st Floor Auditorium.

November 28th Tuesday

The RLPL will present an Afternoon Movie on Wednesday at 2:00pm. Choosing and showing movies for your viewing enjoyment. Once each month the library will pick from newly released or classic movies to present at our afternoon movie event.  This month we’ll be viewing THE HERO with actor Sam Elliott.  Sam plays and over-the-hill movie star who, after being diagnosed with cancer, deals with lifetime regrets and mending fences with those he’s hurt.  Invite a friend to enjoy a movie and popcorn.

November 30th Thursday

The Washburn County Area Humane Society's Annual Tree of Lights Event has been appropriately named “Dreams Do Come True” and will take place on Thursday at Spooner Market and Grill from 4pm-7pm.  Complimentary refreshments, cash bar, and many wonderful prizes and giveaways. Fire destroyed the shelter earlier this year inspiring this year's theme of  “Dreams Do Come True” as the new animal shelter effort moves forward and have now become a reality.  

November 30th Thursday

On Thursday join the RLPL for the Holiday Parade. Join us at the Rice Lake Main Street Association's Annual Holiday Parade.
