Hayward Town Hall Referendum Vote This Week

Monday, November 4, 2019 - Residents in the town of Hayward are faced with a referendum this week to help pay for a new town hall.  The project is estimated to cost $5 million, which, for an average home, would mean paying $150 a year for a total of 10 years.  The fire department, highway department, police department, and town offices are all located at the Hayward Town Hall.  Town officials say the building is too small for the different departments, and the 55-year-old building is beginning to deteriorate.  Hayward officials say it makes more sense to a build a new facility rather than upgrading their current one, being that it would cost around $2 million alone to bring their current facility up to code.  Community members will decide on the referendum on Tuesday.
