Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - Nobody was injured in yesterday morning's fire at the Jennie-O plant in Barron.  The fire was initially reported just after 730am with reports of a fire inside the feed mill cooling tower. When the first units from the Barron Maple Grove Fire Department arrived they saw smoke on the west side of the building and requested additional manpower. Fire departments from Chetek, Cumberland, Rice Lake, and New Auburn rushed to the scene and were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading into adjacent structures. Just before 930am the fire was under control and by 115pm all units had left the scene, including Barron Police, Mayo EMS and the Barron County Sheriff's Department.  Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, but say it does not appear suspicious.
