Thursday February 11th, 2021 - The report of
scammers impersonating area law enforcement has reached two counties. The
Barron County Sheriff’s Office has received information about a scam where
someone is calling, identifying themselves as a Deputy, and requesting payment
for warrants. The suspect requests payment in the form of gift cards. This is a
scam. Do not provide any information or payments. Deputies and Local Law
Enforcement never take a direct payment by phone. The Sheriff's Department says
if you get a similar call, document the phone numbers and call your local Law
Enforcement agency to file a report. Last week a similar scam was reported in
Polk County. |
