Friday, May 22, 2020 -- Wisconsin's unemployment level rose to 14.1 percent in April, the highest level since the Great Depression. The state Department of Workforce Development reported the latest figures Thursday. The state's rate is just below the national 14.7 percent level. April was the first full month of Wisconsin's "Safer at Home" order issued by Governor Tony Evers to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The order closed most nonessential businesses.
